Cyberpunk 2077's free Update 2.5 arrives October 22
CD Projekt Red announced the Edgerunners 2 Update on October 20, the day Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, its anime series made with studio TRIGGER, premiered on Netflix with all ten episodes. The update adds content inspired by the new series along with other new items and features. The studio's REDstreams post names two of them so far: cyberware customization and a new dual-wielding playstyle.

Update (October 22, 2026): CD Projekt Red published the Update 2.5 patch notes on October 21. Dual-wielding comes from a new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree and works with Pistols and Revolvers. You can restyle Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System at five new Glamdoc shops. The update also adds a side quest set before Edgerunners 2, a radio station with music from the series, cross-platform mods through mod.io (also on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2), and a field-of-view slider on consoles. Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version get it in the days after October 22.
Shrek 2 Remastered launches November 10 with four-player online co-op
Aspyr, working with Universal, announced DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered on October 20. It is a new version of the 2004 action-adventure game based on the movie, with better textures, an improved interface, rebuilt cutscenes, 4K resolution, a new Photo Mode, a Cheats Menu, and the option to swap between heroes at any time.
What it means for you:
- Release: November 10, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Switch and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store).
- Price: $29.99. Digital pre-orders are 10% off at $26.99 on every platform, according to Aspyr, and the Steam listing shows the same price. On PS5 the discount needs a PlayStation Plus subscription. Xbox Wire says Game Pass members get up to 20% off the Xbox pre-order through November 9.
- Co-op: play solo or with up to four players on one couch, online, or a mix of both.

Our take: At $29.99 this is priced like the nostalgia trip it is, not a full new game. Online co-op is the addition that matters most, since friends and family who grew up with it no longer need to share a couch.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Mouthwashing join Game Pass on October 29
Xbox listed its next Game Pass additions on October 20. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade arrives October 29 on cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Mouthwashing, the psychological horror game from Wrong Organ and CRITICAL REFLEX, joins the same day, as announced at the ID@Xbox x IGN showcase. CRITICAL REFLEX's console announcement trailer says Mouthwashing also launches on PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch on October 29. It has been on Steam since September 26, 2024.
What it means for you:
- Tiers: both games come to Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass.
- Also coming: The Séance of Blake Manor on October 27 (Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass), and Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted on October 29 (Ultimate and PC Game Pass).
- Leaving October 31: Deep Rock Galactic, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Grim Fandango Remastered, Wartales and five more. Football Manager 26 leaves November 10.
- Mouthwashing on PlayStation and Switch: the console price hasn't been announced.
Our take: Intergrade on Game Pass is an easy way for Xbox players to start the remake trilogy before Revelation arrives on April 8, 2027. If Deep Rock Galactic or Lego Star Wars is in your rotation, you have until October 31.
Riders Republic comes to Switch 2 on December 9, with offline play for everyone
Ubisoft announced the Switch 2 version on October 20, during a stream for the extreme-sports game's fifth anniversary. Ubisoft says more than 17 million people have played it. The same day the Switch 2 version launches, December 9, every current platform gets Nomad mode, a way to play most of the game alone without an internet connection.
What it means for you:
- Offline play: explore the open world, progress your careers, unlock landmarks and find balloons. When you reconnect, offline progress merges into your online save.
- Still online-only: the shop, season progression, sponsors, multiplayer modes and user-created events.
- Free weekend: October 22 to 26. If you buy the game afterward, your progress carries over.
- Switch 2 price: not announced yet.
Our take: Offline play is the bigger news here, because it is what makes a handheld version practical on a train or a plane. It also helps on Steam Deck and during server maintenance on every platform.
EA Sports says Fight Night is coming back
A new EA SPORTS Fight Night account on X posted on October 20 at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET: "To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back." The image shows boxing gloves hanging over an empty ring, with the EA Sports logo under a slogan about the fight never being over. The last game in the boxing series, Fight Night Champion, came out in 2011.
What it means for you:
- Not announced: the game's title, platforms, release window and price.
- Nothing to pre-order: the account's profile says only that the ESRB rating is pending.
Our take: Boxing fans have waited a long time for this, but a one-line tease is a promise, not a product. Wait for gameplay and a platform list before getting your hopes up.
Update (October 22, 2026): In a memo to EA staff published by Variety on October 21, EA executives said EA Sports is in pre-production on the new Fight Night. There is still no title, platform list or release window.
