Rockstar Games released the Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET on October 15, 2026, five weeks before the game arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19. Also in this short weekend roundup: the co-op climbing hit Peak reaches PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on October 22, and Steam starts a beta of Achievement Sets, a new way to group and track achievements.

GTA 6's launch trailer is out, five weeks before November 19

Rockstar posted the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on its YouTube channel on October 15. The minute-and-a-half trailer returns to Jason and Lucia, caught in a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida after an easy score goes wrong. Rockstar says the footage was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5. By October 17 the video had passed 34 million views.

The trailer also brings new music. According to Rockstar's video description, the electronic duo Justice composed the game's original score, and the trailer uses their new single, "Flower in a Hurricane," featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The song is on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, which you can pre-save on streaming services or pre-order on vinyl or CD.

What it means for you:

  • Release: November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders open, according to Rockstar's GTA VI page.
  • PC: still not announced. The page lists only the two consoles.

Our take: There is little new story here, but calling it the launch trailer five weeks out is Rockstar's clearest signal yet that November 19 is holding. Justice scoring the whole game is the real news for anyone who cares about GTA soundtracks.

Peak climbs onto PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on October 22

Peak, the co-op climbing game from Aggro Crab and Landfall that began as a one-month game jam in February 2025, is coming to consoles. The team announced the PS5 date in an October 15 PlayStation Blog post, and Landfall's Peak FAQ gives the same October 22 date for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. You and up to three friends climb a mountain on a mysterious island, managing hunger, injuries and hazards on the way up. Sony's post says the PS5 version includes every content update the game has had since launch.

What it means for you:

  • Price: $9.99 digital on consoles, according to Landfall's FAQ.
  • Cross-play: console players can climb with the existing Steam players and with the other consoles.
  • Online: playing with others needs your console's online subscription. Solo play works offline without one.
  • No cross-save: your progress doesn't move between platforms, so a PC climber starts fresh on console.

Our take: At $9.99, with cross-play into the existing Steam community, Peak is an easy pick for a group of friends on mixed hardware. Just don't expect your PC unlocks to follow you.

Steam starts testing Achievement Sets

Valve opened a beta of Steam Achievement Sets on October 15. Developers can now group a game's achievements into sets, such as single-player and multiplayer, or one set per class. Steam shows a progress bar for each set and adds a "set complete" trophy to your profile when you finish one.

What it means for you:

  • Completion stays done: if a developer adds achievements to a set you've completed, your completion is kept, and new content can go into new sets of its own.
  • DLC sets: achievements that need paid DLC sit in their own sets and don't count toward your overall progress until you own that content.
  • Seasonal achievements: developers can archive achievements or whole sets. If you earned one, it stays on your profile. If you missed it, it no longer counts against you.
  • New achievements page: per-set progress, global unlock rates as a toggle, and comparisons with up to three friends. The Perfect Games tab is now called Completed.
  • How to try it: opt in to the Steam Client beta. Only games whose developers have added sets show them.

Our take: This fixes a long-running annoyance: a new DLC or season could knock a finished game off 100%. How much it helps depends on developers adopting sets, so check your favorite games as support grows.
