Sega laid out Year Two of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on October 9, 2026: a $29.99 Season Pass Two with six crossover packs, from Godzilla on November 3 to Persona in late 2027, plus Bayonetta as a free racer. Also in this roundup: Ubisoft is shutting down Rainbow Six Mobile on January 15, 2027, Nintendo Switch Online members can play Hello Kitty Island Adventure for free until October 15, and Once Upon a Katamari is out on Switch 2.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year Two starts November 3 with Godzilla and a free Bayonetta

Sega streamed a Year Two Showcase on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel on October 9, and Season Pass Two went on sale the same day. Its Steam listing prices it at $29.99 and dates its six packs:

  • November 3, 2026: Godzilla, with a new course and three machines.
  • January 2027: Evangelion, with Rei and Asuka as racers.
  • Second quarter of 2027: Virtual Sanrio Puroland, with Hello Kitty and Kuromi.
  • Third quarter of 2027: SEGALAND, and a Final Fantasy VII Remake pack.
  • Fourth quarter of 2027: Persona 3 Reload, 4 Revival and 5 Royal.

Not everything costs money: Bayonetta arrives on November 3 as a free racer you unlock by playing Rival Duel matches in the new 1v1 Duel Mode, then a free McLaren machine later in November and Aigis from Persona 3 in early 2027, according to GamingTrend and Siliconera. Both say the base game now costs $39.99, a permanent cut according to GamingTrend, and Steam lists it at that price. The game plus the pass costs $59.99 as the Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition.

Our take: Free racers like Bayonetta and Aigis keep the game growing for everyone, not only pass owners. With most packs dated in 2027 or later, buying the pass now is a bet on content you can't play yet, so waiting costs you little.

Ubisoft is shutting down Rainbow Six Mobile on January 15, 2027

The Rainbow Six Mobile team announced on October 8, in a message on the game's official X account, that it will "sunset" the mobile shooter. The game stays available until January 15, 2027, and the team says the next season still comes out as planned the week after the announcement. Insider Gaming reported the same date.

What it means for you:

  • You can keep playing until January 15, 2027, including the new season.
  • Purchases: the message doesn't say what happens to in-game currency or items you have bought, or whether there will be refunds. The team promises more updates "in the coming weeks" to help players prepare.
  • Why: the team says it will move on to other long-term projects. The game had been running since a soft launch in 2023, through 15 seasons.

Our take: Until Ubisoft explains what happens to purchases, don't spend more money in the game. If you already paid for currency or a pass, watch for the promised details before January 15.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is free on Switch Online until October 15

Nintendo's Game Trial post, published on October 8, says Nintendo Switch Online members can download and play the full Nintendo Switch version of Hello Kitty Island Adventure at no extra cost from 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET on October 9 until 11:59 p.m. PT on October 15. It is a cozy adventure in which you restore an abandoned island with Hello Kitty and her friends.

What it means for you:

  • What you need: a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo offers a free 7-day trial, which renews as a paid membership unless you cancel it.
  • Your progress stays: if you buy the game during or after the trial, your save data carries over.
  • If you want to keep it: the digital version is 45% off, $21.99 instead of $39.99, until 11:59 p.m. PT on October 18.
  • Bonus: completing the trial mission earns 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points.

Our take: A full game for a week is long enough to find out whether a slow, cozy island game suits you or your kids. The sale runs three days past the trial, so you can decide after you play.

Once Upon a Katamari is out on Switch 2, free for Switch owners

Bandai Namco released Once Upon a Katamari on Switch 2 on October 8, along with a Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC for every platform. The Switch 2 version adds mouse controls, a smoother frame rate and better graphics than the Switch version.

What it means for you:

  • Already own it on Switch? Bandai Namco's original announcement says Switch owners who play on Switch 2 get a free update with the performance boost and mouse controls. Your save carries over if there is no save for the game on the Switch 2 yet.
  • New players: the US eShop lists the game at $39.99, and the Rolling LIVE Highlights Edition, which adds the DLC, at $49.99.
  • The DLC: 10 quests and their songs from the mobile game Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE. It is also sold on its own on every platform.

Our take: Rolling a katamari with a mouse is a new way to play a series built on twin-stick controls, and Switch owners can try it at no cost. Pay for the DLC only if you want more stages.
