Wube Software marked Factorio 2.1 as stable on October 23, 2026, ending an experimental phase that began in June, and the studio has said it sees 2.1 as the last major update for the game. Also in this roundup: Chucky leaves Dead by Daylight's stores on November 24, three Game Boy games join Nintendo Switch Online on October 27, and the horror RPG Look Outside reaches PlayStation and Switch consoles on October 30.
Factorio 2.1 is now stable, and Wube plans no more major updates
Wube's Friday Facts #449, posted October 23, says version 2.1 is now marked stable after a summer in experimental. It adds no new planets, enemies or research trees, just a long list of quality-of-life changes and polish. In Friday Facts #440 in May, Wube said it sees 2.1 as its last major update, with long-term support such as bug fixes and modding features to follow.
What it means for you:
- Space Age players: rockets can carry mixed items in one launch, platforms can trade items with other platforms in orbit, and a new unloading bay lets inserters empty the landing pad into trains, chests or belts. Quality is now optional.
- Everyone: circuit reads and writes can use different wire colors, pipes and boilers connect to the circuit network, and pipelines carrying different fluids no longer merge.
- Back up first: 2.0 saves load, but some changes can break existing designs, and updated saves and blueprints can't go back to 2.0. Some mods may not be updated yet.
- New to the game? Factorio and the Space Age expansion cost $35.00 each on Steam.
Our take: If you play on 2.0, copy your saves and blueprints before the update installs, because there is no way back. For everyone else, a finished Factorio is a good moment to start a long factory.
Chucky leaves Dead by Daylight's stores on November 24
Behaviour Interactive announced on October 23 that the Chucky Chapter is leaving Dead by Daylight. On November 24, 2026, the Chapter and its content will be removed from the in-game store and from first-party stores. Behaviour didn't give a reason. It follows the Halloween Chapter, with Michael Myers, which left on January 19, 2026.
What it means for you:
- If you own it: anything you unlocked before November 24 stays usable in the game.
- If you don't: the Chapter's content goes on sale on all platforms on October 26. Behaviour hasn't said how big the discount is. The Chucky Chapter normally costs $4.99 on Steam.
Our take: If you want The Good Guy, waiting for the October 26 sale costs you nothing, but don't leave it past November 24. Two licensed Chapters gone in one year is a reminder that licensed DLC in this game may not stay on sale for good.
Mole Mania and two more Game Boy games join Switch Online on October 27
Nintendo of America said on October 22, at 9:01 p.m. ET / 6:01 p.m. PT, that three games come to the Game Boy - Nintendo Classics app for Nintendo Switch Online members on October 27:
- Avenging Spirit: the 1992 Game Boy version of Jaleco's arcade platformer.
- Mole Mania: a 1996 Nintendo puzzle-action game produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, released in North America in February 1997.
- Pinball: Revenge of the 'Gator: HAL Laboratory's pinball game, released in North America in March 1990.
What it means for you on Switch and Switch 2:
- Membership: the Game Boy library comes with the basic Nintendo Switch Online membership, $19.99 a year for one account or $34.99 for a family of up to eight. You don't need the Expansion Pack.
- Free trial: Nintendo offers a 7-day trial, even if you have used one before.
- How to get them: open the Game Boy - Nintendo Classics app on October 27 and let it update.
Our take: Mole Mania is the pick of the three, a Nintendo puzzle game that is easy to miss. Since all three need only the cheapest membership, most Switch Online members can try them at no extra cost.
Look Outside comes to PS5, PS4, Switch 2 and Switch on October 30
Devolver Digital announced on October 23 that Look Outside launches on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and PS4 on October 30. Francis Coulombe's pixel-art survival horror RPG has been on PC since March 21, 2025. It takes place in one apartment building after an event turns anyone who looks out the window into a monster, and you scavenge the building for food, supplies and weapons while meeting its odd residents.
What it means for you:
- Date: October 30, 2026 on all four consoles. Devolver hasn't announced a launch time.
- Price: console prices haven't been announced. On PC it costs $9.99 on Steam.
Update (October 26, 2026): Nintendo's store now lists Look Outside at $9.99 on both Switch and Switch 2, the same as on PC, with an October 30 release date. PlayStation prices still haven't been announced.
Our take: Arriving the day before Halloween suits a horror game set behind closed curtains. Wait for the console price before you decide, but if it lands near the $9.99 PC price, it's an easy one to try.
