Witchbrook, Chucklefish's witch-school life sim, finally has a date: January 28, 2027, for $24.99, on PC, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox and now PS5 too. Also in this roundup: Sony's PS Plus games for November, the rest of Nintendo's October 28 Indie World, a transparent Prism Collection for PS5, No Man's Sky's Forsaken update and iPhone launch, and what Modern Warfare 4's Season 1 brings on November 6.
Witchbrook launches January 28, 2027 for $24.99, with a day-one PS5 version
Chucklefish announced on October 28, right after the game's spot in Nintendo's Indie World showcase, that Witchbrook launches on January 28, 2027. You play the newest witch in the seaside town of Mossport, studying at Witchbrook College, making friends and finding love, alone or with up to three others online. The extended release-date trailer shows spellcasting, studying, potion-making and tarot, and Chucklefish thanked fans for their patience over the past year, while it took extra time to finish the game.
What it means for you:
- Price: $24.99 at launch. Other regional prices will be shared closer to launch.
- Platforms: PC, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox and PS5, all on day one. PS5 is the new addition.
- Where to wishlist: the Steam page already shows January 28, 2027, but no price yet. Nintendo's showcase recap lists the same date for Switch and Switch 2.
- Physical copies: a Standard and a Collector's Edition are in the works but will arrive some time after the digital release. Chucklefish will announce them separately.
Our take: $24.99 for a four-player life sim is a fair price for a game this many people have been waiting on. If you want a boxed copy, you'll be waiting longer than everyone else, so decide now whether the digital version is enough.
PS Plus Monthly Games for November: Dead Island 2, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered and Monster Train 2
Sony revealed on October 28 the three Monthly Games PlayStation Plus members get in November. Members can add them from November 3 to November 30.
What's included:
- Dead Island 2 (PS5, PS4): the zombie action RPG set in a ruined Los Angeles, with online co-op for up to three players.
- Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered (PS5, PS4): The Last Revelation, Chronicles and The Angel of Darkness, and you can switch between the original and remastered graphics at any time.
- Monster Train 2 (PS5 only): a single-player deckbuilding roguelite with five new clans.
The October games, F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, can still be added to your library until November 2.
Our take: This is a strong, varied month: a co-op zombie game, three classic Tomb Raiders and a deckbuilder for PS5 owners. Claim the October games before November 2 if you haven't yet.
Nintendo's Indie World: Sword of the Sea, Slime Rancher 2, Super Battle Golf and R.E.P.O. head to Switch 2
The rest of Nintendo's October 28 Indie World was mostly Switch 2 news. Nintendo's recap covers every game shown, and the full showcase is on Nintendo's site. The highlights for US players:
- Out now or very soon: Bao Bao's Cozy Cleaning Services launched on Switch on October 28, and Sword of the Sea, from the studio behind ABZÛ and The Pathless, launches on Switch 2 on October 29.
- Free demos on the eShop: Haunted Paws, Petal Runner, RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition and Winds of Viridia.
- November: RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition (Switch 2) and TANUKI: Pon's Summer (Switch 2 and Switch) on November 10, and the life sim MMO Spirit Crossing, from the makers of Cozy Grove, on November 16 as a console exclusive on Switch 2 and Switch.
- 2027 on Switch 2: Slime Rancher 2 in January, Super Battle Golf on March 25 with up to eight players online, and the co-op horror game R.E.P.O. at some point in 2027.
- Free upgrade: Everything is Crab launches January 26, 2027 on Switch, and owners of that version can upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition for free.
Nintendo's post gives no prices for any of these.
Our take: Most of these dates are in 2027, so the four free demos are the most useful thing to come out of this show right now. They cost nothing and tell you more than a trailer.
Sony's see-through Prism Collection PS5 controllers and covers launch February 4, 2027
Sony introduced the Prism Collection on October 28: DualSense controllers and PS5 console covers in transparent Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray. Its designers say they wanted to bring back the see-through look of the late '90s.
What it means for you:
- Prices: $84.99 for a DualSense controller and $74.99 for a console cover (recommended prices).
- Pre-orders: open November 10 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET at direct.playstation.com in the US, and at participating retailers.
- Release: starting February 4, 2027. Sony says the exact date and availability can vary by region.
- Where to buy covers: in the US, the console covers are sold only directly by PlayStation. The controllers are available more widely.
Our take: Sony's post talks only about colors and finishes, not new features, so these are a style buy rather than an upgrade. Pre-orders start November 10, but the wait for delivery runs into February.
No Man's Sky's Forsaken update is out, and the game is live on iPhone and iPad
Hello Games released Forsaken on October 28, a Halloween-themed update (version 7.10) and the fifth major update of the game's 10th-anniversary year. You salvage haunted mementos from derelict hulks, abandoned freighters, planet dig sites and infested outposts, then trade them with new Forsaken traders for biomechanical corvette parts. The patch notes list more:
- New gear: cockpits, a new interior set, a larva tank helmet and a larva cannon multi-tool.
- Quality of life: a minimal HUD mode, a radial weapon selector, and seamless warping to nearby stars without opening the galaxy map.
- New missions: package courier runs for your corvette.
The same day, No Man's Sky launched on iPhone and iPad with Forsaken included. The App Store listing is a free download that lets you try the opening, and a one-time $19.99 purchase unlocks the full game.
Our take: The minimal HUD and seamless warping are the kind of small fixes long-time players notice every session. If you were curious about the iOS version, the free opening is the easiest way to see how your device handles it.
Modern Warfare 4's Season 1 arrives November 6 with new maps and two new Warzone maps
Activision laid out Season 1 on the PlayStation Blog on October 28. It goes live on November 6 and is called the first free content update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
What's coming:
- Multiplayer at launch: the all-new maps Backstab and Canyon, a reimagined Shoot House, and the Grind and Drop Zone modes.
- Mid-season: the maps Ministry and Overflow, and a new mode called Counter Attack.
- DMZ: a new weapons facility called X01, with new Orders, Threat Briefings and Resupply Runs.
- Warzone: two new maps, Hajin and Zodiac. A full Warzone roadmap is coming later.
- Battle Pass: 100+ items, including the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and CSG-35 SMG. Buyers who fall behind are caught up automatically to the reward for the current day, up to day 50.
The post gives no launch time and no Battle Pass price.
Our take: New maps and modes at no cost are the main reason to keep playing a Call of Duty after launch month. The catch-up system is a welcome change for anyone who can't play every day.
