RuneScape: Dragonwilds has its plans mapped out through 2027: a free update called Luminance adds the Prayer skill in December, and 2027 brings the Hunter skill, official mod support and a two-chapter story called the Blood Crystal Saga. Jagex revealed the plan at RuneFest on October 3, 2026. Also in this short roundup: The New Denpa Men, Genius Sonority's free-to-play RPG, shuts down on December 6.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds adds Prayer in December, Hunter and mods in 2027
Jagex's recap of the first Dragonwilds Summit, posted October 3 from RuneFest, lays out the survival game's plans. Luminance, the December update, adds an elven story, a Lyre you play at Fairy Rings to reach hidden places, elven looks and armor, an elven building kit, and a Prayer skill built around burying bones and scattering ashes. Jagex says it works differently from Prayer in RuneScape and Old School RuneScape.
What it means for you:
- Price: Jagex said on September 2 that Luminance is free. The game is $29.99 on Steam ($39.99 Deluxe) and included with Xbox Game Pass, on PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
- First half of 2027: Song of Rebellion, the first of two Blood Crystal Saga chapters, adds the Hunter skill (the first of several new skills planned for 2027), official modding with an in-game mod browser on every platform, secure servers and leaderboards.
- Crown of Night: the second chapter brings legendary weapons such as the Dark Bow. Jagex gave no date beyond 2027.
- Still unknown: the recap doesn't say whether the saga chapters are free or paid.
Our take: Official mods on consoles as well as PC is the boldest promise here, and the one to watch. Until Jagex says what the Blood Crystal Saga costs, count only on Luminance being free.
The New Denpa Men shuts down December 6, paid items already pulled
Genius Sonority announced on its official site on October 5 (Japan time) that The New Denpa Men ends service at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET on December 6 (11 a.m. JST on December 7). The free-to-play RPG launched on Switch on July 22, 2024, then came to iOS, Android and, in April 2026, Switch 2. The studio said it would be difficult to keep running the game at the level players expect.
What it means for you:
- No more purchases: Jewels and other paid packs stopped selling with the notice, at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET on October 4.
- Spend your Jewels: after shutdown, Jewels and items can't be used, and any event still running stops partway through.
- Refunds: the paid portion of unused currency will be refunded under Japan's Payment Services Act. The request period and steps will be posted on the official site after service ends.
- Save your Support ID: you need it for a refund. It stays visible under Support on the title screen until March 31, 2027. Don't delete the app or reinstall it on a new device until your refund is done.
Our take: The refund is the good news here, but you need your Support ID to claim it. Write it down now, while the game is still running.
